Feather Love!
December 6th, 2012
By Nichole
Feathers have been all over the bridal and haute couture runways for the past few seasons. Some designers use them in very avante garde ways that can scare off the average bride, but when used as delicate subtle details, feathers provide the perfect amount of texture, imparting a look of luxe refinement.
Whether used on the dress itself, a headpiece, or an accessory, feathers can add that unexpected twist that sets your wedding look apart from all the rest. Here are a few dresses we sell here at The White Gown:

We were perusing the blogs today (as we always do!) and stumbled upon a post from Style Me Pretty featuring Enzoani’s gorgeous Fatima gown. And because we love this gowns detailed lace bodice, dropped waist and full skirt, we couldn’t help but repost. Between the stunning gown, and the romantic Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario setting, this wedding is pure perfection. And we love that the bride put her maids in ivory! Hope you enjoy seeing this beautiful gown on a real bride!

Inspiration: Pastels Are Back
April 3rd, 2012
by Keely
Pastels are back in a big way this Spring and Summer, and I’d have to say that I’m pretty happy about it. I love a good neon now and again, but there’s something soft and classic about adding color into your look with muted tones. I’ve pulled together some of my favorite pastel nails and paired them with the perfect bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses. Love it!

Inspiration: Alyne’s Evelyn
March 27th, 2012
by Keely
We’re excited to say that our Alyne trunk show this past weekend was a blast! The weekend ended with many happy brides. For our inspiration post this week, we’re featuring an Alyne gown that found a home with one of our blushing brides.
Perfect for a summer affair, the gown is called Evelyn and features a beautiful embroidered lace, a sweetheart neckline and ruched bodice that cinches at the natural waist. Rosettes near the hemline of the gown add a lovely, delicate detail.
I think a pencil or beaded edged elbow length veil is simply stunning with this gown – perhaps something like this Sara Gabriel, double layer veil! Pair with a satin or beaded sash and your look is complete!
We’ve pulled together some beautiful outdoor venues in Upstate New York and Vermont – can you just picture a beautiful bride walking down the aisle in these scenes? Love!!

And finally, the expansive and beautiful Amee Farm, Pittsfield, Vermont.

New Gowns: Alyne Bridal
March 20th, 2012
by Keely
To celebrate our upcoming trunk show this weekend, we’re featuring two gowns from the latest Alyne collection! Both are recent additions to our selection and are of the same, gorgeous fabrics and quality that ring true with all Alyne gowns. We think you’ll love them!
First up is Felicity. A stunning, silk dupioni gown featuring a ruched bodice, beautiful beaded belt and, of course, an amazing one-shoulder detail. A gentle, sweeping train completes the look.
Pair with a birdcage veil and a set of sparkling bangles and you’ll be a simply stunning, modern bride!
Next up is the full lace beauty, Catherine – perhaps inspired by the Duchess of Cambridge herself. The gown features a low, scooping back, v-shaped neckline and a delicate sash. Our favorite part about this gown, although not pictures below, is that the underlay can come in a lovely pale pink. You have to see this gown in person!
Paired with a cathedral pencil edge or lace veil, this look is classic and elegant.
If you love Alyne gowns as much as we do, be sure to make your appointment today for our trunk show this weekend! You won’t be disappointed!

An Anjolique Favorite
March 1st, 2012
by Keely
We have a few newer Anjolique gowns in the store and there’s one gown in particular that we can’t stop pulling. We’d like to introduce you to an instant favorite of ours, style C161. An elegant sheath silhouette, this gown is sure to please those brides looking for something with less volume. The gown features an amazing lace applique and a natural-waisted bodice along with a gorgeous scalloped train.
Remember our new Elle & Jae accessories? Well I can’t stop pulling this belt – it’s a lovely stretch grosgrain in gray that hooks in the front with an amazing beaded detail. Simple and elegant, this belt works seamlessly with any gown. At least I tend to think so!

Academy Awards Inspiration
February 28th, 2012
by Keely
Well, I’m back to round out the awards season with a wrap up from the movies’ (and fashion’s!) biggest night: The Academy Awards. There were some clear trends throughout the evening – a lot of white gowns, red gowns, one shouldered frocks, long sleeved stunners, peplum skirts and metallic accents to name a few! I’ve pulled together a few of my absolute favorite gowns from the night and have set them side by side with some of our own beauties from The White Gown. What were your favorites of the evening?
My favorite trend of the evening was the peplum skirt. Michelle Williams wore an amazing Louis Vuitton coral gown and Tina Fey looked stunning in a midnight blue Carolina Herrera gown. I chose to pair the peplum styles with an Enzoani stunner, and while it may not technically be a peplum, the natural waisted bodice and flared skirt of this Enzoani gown has a similar shape overall. Love!!
Next up is the always-beautiful Angelina Jolie – she wore an amazing Atelier Versace gown. When I saw this gown, I immediately thought of our layered organza David Fielden gown – it features similar asymmetrical draping and a flattering natural waistline. In short, I’m obsessed.
I noticed a lot of sleeved options – both cap sleeves and long sleeves – on the red carpet, which I love. Check out the amazing silhouettes on JLo (in Zuhair Murad), Meryl Streep (in Lanvin) and Octavia Spencer (in Tadashi Shoji).
I can’t help but think of our amazing Lusan Mandongus gown that features a similar cinched waist and gentle cap sleeve.
Emma Stone was another favorite of mine Sunday evening in Giambattista Valli. I love this high neckline on her – even if it was similar to Nicole Kidman a few years back! The gown is also reminiscent of our Alyne Bridal gown, Fiona that features a high neckline and natural waist.
I was pleasantly surprised to see Natalie Portman in vintage Christian Dior (another red gown!!). The silhouette is classic and lovely – just like our Alyne Bridal gown, Audrey.
Milla Jovovich’s Ellie Saab gown was yet another favorite of mine (sorry - I had a lot of favorites!). The beautiful one-shoulder detail along with the beaded draping was nothing but stunning. While the fabrics are different, the draping and shoulder detail reminded me of our new Soft by Rosa Clara gowns. Gorgeous!
A structured bodice and textured skirt goes a long way. Take a look at Jessica Chastain (in Alexander McQueen) and Kristen Wiig (in J Mendel), for example. And then take a look at our gorgeous Maria Karin gown that combines the best of both!
Another jaw-dropping moment was Stacy Keibler’s amazing Marchesa, metallic gown! Between the gorgeous color and rosette draping, I was immediately reminded of one of our favorite David Fielden gowns at the salon.
And finally, I just had to include Gwyneth Paltrow’s Tom Ford dress and cape. I didn’t pair this with a gown in the store simply because every bride can achieve this look with a cathedral veil! A statement indeed – what’s not to love about this look?
What was your favorite look of the night? Will you wear an Academy Awards-inspired gown? We’d love to hear!
