A little bit about Kristy and Rob’s Proposal..

Rob and I met 4 years ago at a bar on the Lower East Side. It was love at first sight! He’s a little bit “heavy metal”, I’m a little bit “dance funk” but we meet in the middle at 70’s rock! We live in Brooklyn with our dog, Pierogi and we spend a lot of time outdoors. Rob proposed when we were on vacation (again, with Pierogi) in the Adirondacks. We were just about to leave to come home and we took a “last walk” on a path down to a beautiful clearing with a large tree. He was trying to say the words but they didn’t come out right.. I finally got the hint and said yes! Right then, Pierogi took off into the clearing chasing something and we had to chase her to get her back into the car so we could go home!

Kristy search for the perfect wedding gown:

I looked high and low for just the right gown. It seemed a lot of styles I liked didn’t look good on my body type. I also thought I found a dress but then when they measured me they said the dress didn’t come in my size. Finally, I found my way to The White Gown where I felt so at home. I wasn’t rushed, I didn’t feel like the dresses were too small for me. I actually had fun trying on gowns again! I’m so happy I was able to find a beautiful dress that fit me well and had such a great experience!

Kristy’s favorite moment on her wedding day:

There are so many! One of my favorite moments was taking photos down in DUMBO before heading to Prospect Park. It was just Rob and I with the photographer and 2 of our friends (and Pierogi of course). We had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the moment before the craziness of the wedding. Walking down the aisle with my dad and looking at Rob waiting for me and my brother who was marrying us, was such an amazing feeling – then to look around and see all the people we loved was incredible. I could feel the love, it was overwhelming! Also, my dad’s speech brought me to tears and was definitely a moment I will never forget.

Rob and Kristy’s  vendors:

Naturally Delicious was our caterer and at the Picnic House, the caterer runs the show. They set everything up, confirmed all my vendors the week prior, and made a delicious meal. They had some creative ways of presenting appetizers and some great ideas along the way on layout and set-up. Even though they had opinions on what worked best, they really listened to our ideas and help us create an event that was uniquely “us”. Most importantly, the food was damn good and the staff was awesome.

Our photographer was also super A+, both a nice guy and very talented. Great ideas but mostly able to capture some great shots without “staging” anything. He fit right in, everyone loved him and our photos turned out great. We also got a photo booth option from him which was the hit of the wedding. People are still talking about it and those photos were hysterical. Everybody got to keep copies and I have a CD of all of them. One of the best decisions we made was to have the photo booth. Aaron rocks!

The Picnic House is awesome, very special to us because we are in Prospect Park all the time. Everyone commented on the venue and how beautiful it was. We lucked out with the weather so we had our ceremony outside. Highly recommend the Picnic House!

To continue our new product series, we bring you Eureka this week from Blue by Enzoani! I personally have tried this on a few brides so far, and must say it is a beautiful gown! The beading detail under the bust and at the dropped waistline is beautiful and floral. And the pickups and rouched bodice add just enough texture to keep the overall look romantic and classic.

Pair the gown with a dramatic faux fur and suddenly you have the most perfect gown for an elegant winter wedding. We also love this gown with a fingertip length veil with a beaded edge like this one from LC Bridal.

So what about venues? We love the Manhattan Penthouse for your big day. With sweeping views of the city and an affordable price point, you can’t go wrong!

Make your appointment today to try on this beautiful gown!

Warm Winter Inspiration!

December 20th, 2011

When it’s as cold out as it is right now, all you want to do is snuggle up on the couch with a good book and a glass of red wine. Well, maybe that’s just me. Regardless, we thought, what better way to convey this warm fuzzy feeling that we all love so much about winter, than through an inspiration board? We hope you enjoy it!

We couldn’t help but re-post this DIY holiday craft from Craftzine – these bulbs just made us so happy and excited for the holidays. There’s nothing quite like a little glitter to add to the holiday cheer, don’t you think? And these look super easy! Be sure to send us photos if you give these a try on your own!

All you need are some old bulbs that you can find at your local thrift shop. We love the shape of these! They are wonderfully vintage and fun. And then you can just pick up your favorite adhesive (Craftzine used Elmer’s!) – we’re always a huge fan of Mod Podge – along with some craft glitter from a craft store.

Just coat the bulbs in a thin layer of the adhesive and, while holding the end of the bulb, sprinkle the glitter on top until it is completely covered. Don’t forget to place a bowl underneath the bulb while you’re sprinkling the glitter, so it doesn’t go to waste! Hold onto the bulb for a minute or two before placing it on a piece of wax paper to dry for a couple of hours.

And voila! These are beautiful in a bowl with some boughs or tied on top of your holiday gifts. Your friends and family will think you’re clever and crafty! Happy DIYing!

A little of their history:

It began in Boston MA, the famed city of light… Dave and Jules met during the first few weeks of school while attending Emerson College.  Exact details of their first meeting are often debated, however it’s generally agreed that they owe their initial introductions to their friend Alissa, who lived next door to Dave in their freshmen dorm, just two floors below Jules.  They soon found themselves together for their first date with some friends at the Paradise Rock Club seeing the Rustic Overtones, a band neither of them felt strongly for until they played an awesome cover, the two had the same “yes!” reaction to: Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer.  Sharing in the first of what would be many many musical experiences over the next eleven years and counting.

After Jules finished her degree in Boston, they found themselves living together in a cozy apartment in New Britain, CT. They became a family with the addition of a very special dog named Molly who they adopted from the local Humane Society.  Over the next several years Jules would transition from a studio photographer to a career at ESPN in neighboring Bristol, CT as Dave worked in many aspects of sales from tile sales to stone fabrication to wholesale liquor.  Tragically, they lost their Molly at the age of five, a loss they still feel today because of all the good times and, more so, because of some of the bad times that she very much helped them get through, and remain together through it all.

Time passed and on the eve of the arrival of two new puppies, sisters Penny and Maebel, to their home in New Britain all the way from a North Carolina rescue, Dave proposed over an elaborate homemade dinner he prepared himself and having waited years to be asked, Jules promptly agreed. The two girls arrived the next day to newly engaged new parents and the pitter patter of puppy paws returned to their home again.

A few months later, after more than seven years in the apartment Molly called home, they moved the family to Burlington, CT to begin a new journey in a beautiful new home they purchased on a quaint little lake in the southeast corner of town. Working together with a little help from friends and family, they’ve managed to almost completely renovate the lake house, shaping it into their ideal spot to start married life together. A new beginning even after having shared an entire young adulthood together.

Julianne’s search for her perfect wedding gown:

My dress was the fourth one I tried on at the White Gown, my first and only stop for trying on wedding dresses. Erica chose the perfect gown for me to try on, it wasn’t even something I would have ever thought existed! It was perfect and fit perfect once the alterations had been made by the amazingly talented seamstress at White Gown. The entire staff was so helpful and accommodating throughout the process. I couldn’t have been happier, I loved my dress so much!! I only wish Hurricane Irene didn’t leave such an impact on it with so much mud!

Julianne’s Favorite moments on her wedding day:

After many adjustments were made due to the weather that day, entering the reception tent to walk down the aisle was by far my favorite and most memorable moment of the day. It was as if I could actually feel the love and energy radiating from our family and friends who made the journey (Hurricane Irene and all!) to be with us that day, and I took it all in. I’ll remember that moment as long as I live.

A little message from Julianne…

My family helped make our wedding so special with all the personal touches they helped to create. From the dahlias my dad grew in his gardens for the centerpieces, to my mom’s homemade Italian cookies and homemade jam, to my sister’s amazing graphic design work with the invitations, programs, table runners, escort cards and all the printed stationary, and our friend’s who gave us the gift of music by playing at our reception, it was all truly beautiful and one of a kind. We couldn’t have done it without them all!

A little about them

I honestly have to say that I married my best friend.  Our relationship grows stronger every single day.  After becoming his wife, I fell in love all over again.  In life, you go thru a lot of ups and downs but knowing that Joey is right there every time I wake up and every time I go to bed, no matter what it may be, its all worth it in the end.  Joey is such an amazing man and I am so extremely lucky.  The day he proposed, was just an ordinary day, a perfect day.  It was a Tuesday and we went out to dinner like we normally do, it was our date night.  We went to dinner and then we went on a dock under a hotel in Redbank, NJ where we went on our first night to just talk and get to know one another.  We were on the dock for all of 3 minutes and I turn around and there he is, down on one knee.  It wasn’t anything crazy, or over the top, it was just perfect.

Stephanie’s search for the perfect wedding gown: For my wedding gown, I knew exactly what I wanted, slim fitted and nothing but lace.  In looking online, I found my perfect dress.  I wanted something simple, but elegant and classy.  The White Gown was the first and last place I looked for my dream gown.

Stephanie’s Favorite Moment of the Wedding: Every moment of our day was a favorite.  Just seeing everyone there around us, showed us how much we are loved and seeing everyone having a great time made our day even more perfect than it already was.

Stephanie and Joey’s Vendors: Everyone that we used for our amazing day was the best decisions we have ever made.  Every vendor from the bakery for our cake to the hall, was fantastic.  They were so accommodating and wanted to make your day as perfect as it already was.  You were number one and they were so sweet, that if we could, we would do it all over again just so we can work with everyone again and also dance all night

I just want to thank everyone that was involved and responsible for making our wedding, the wedding of our dreams.  It was more perfect than I could have ever imagined and working with all of you, has made everything worth it whether the planning was good or stressful, every minute was extremely worth and we wish we could do it again.  You guys are truly amazing and I couldn’t thank you enough for making our day so unforgettable then it already will be.

A Color to Inspire You!

December 6th, 2011

By Keely

We were once again browsing one of our favorite sites for color inspiration, Colour Lovers, and saw that they had posted a new wedding palette for Fall. And while we know it’s December, we haven’t hit the Winter solstice yet, so we’re going to go ahead and write about it anyways! Besides, the post is inspired by a single color that easily translates into the colder months of Winter: gold! Thanks again for the inspiration, Colour Lovers!

And what may be the perfect gown to wear with such pretty gold accents? Well after our Alyne Fall 2012 trunk show this past weekend, we can’t help but think that Kaylee would the perfect gown for a sparkly evening! Between the beaded sleeves and the light beading on the belt, this beautiful gown would catch the gold details beautifully.

Hope you’re feeling inspired!
