About Renee and Pete:

Pete and I met in Texas. I was still in college and Pete was active duty in the Army.. We met through mutual friends, and were admittedly a little shy about getting into a relationship. But, once we started dating, we just never stopped. Six years later,  we were living together in New York when Pete proposed to me on a weekend trip at the Mohonk Mountain House in early December.

Renee’s search for her perfect gown:

I was never one to obsess over wedding dresses, but I did always know I wanted something classic and romantic– and gorgeous! Turns out, I didn’t really have to look all that hard. I had been to the White Gown once before, to help a friend with her final fitting and taking her dress home. After browsing the site and blog, I came across the Valentine’s Day Love Story contest, and immediately entered. I continued browsing online, and didn’t think about it again– until I won second place! I didn’t find the perfect dress right away, but each dress I tried was more promising than the last.. Then, on my third trip, the very last dress I tried on was the Enzoani I was meant to wear. My mother and sister where there with me, and the choice was unanimous..

Renee’s Favorite Moment:

One of my favorite moments was our pinata hitting out in the venue’s coutryard. The groom and I each took turns before opening it up to the kids. By the time we hung up the second pinanta, the adults were getting in on the action. I have fantastic pictures of each of my Bridesmaids, in heels,  taking a whack at a paper mache star.

Another favorite moment was eating dinner at the reception. It was so nice to have a “normal” moment together after the ceremony. Family and friends would come up and say hi, and we were both a little anxious, but it was so nice to sit at a table alone, in the front of the room and just take everything in for a moment.

A bit about Renee and Pete’s vendors:

My vendors were each phenomenal in there own way. The Federation provided the perfect backdrop, the Salt Lick wowed our guests with their food, and the day only came together with the help of Ruthie, my coordinator, and her team. My photographer and videographer captured all the right moments to create a beautiful story we can look back on forever. The cakes, the flowers, the bar staff, the music– it was all perfect for our day.

A little bit about Anjelica and Joe:

I (Anjelica) had recently moved to New York from Texas and was taking the Q downtown subway for the first time. I was looking at the map, a bit perplexed, when someone asked if I needed help. After getting confirmation that I was headed in the right direction, I started chatting with this handsome stranger. We exchanged business cards and the rest is history. We enjoy exploring Manhattan, traveling and going to museums. Proposal: The Metropolitan (Met) has always been a special place for us, we love to browse the art collections and have enjoyed many drinks on the Met’s rooftop. On an overcast, cloudy day, we headed to the Met. We immediately headed to the rooftop before the rain came, and Joe eagerly made a beeline for the champagne, which I thought was a bit odd. A few minutes later, while overlooking Central Park, Joe said, “This is a very special spot for me” and I inquired why, and he said, “It’s where I asked my future wife to marry me” and a moment later we were engaged!

Anjelica’s search for her perfect gown:

My family is all based in the Southwest, so I eagerly jumped at the chance to try on wedding dresses with my friend who also recently got engaged. Immediately upon arriving, I was greeted with friendly faces who listened carefully when I vaguely described what I was looking for (off-white, strapless, maybe some crystals, nothing too formal because it was going to be a beach wedding). I wasn’t very helpful. I tried on my very first wedding dress and instantly feel in love. But, it couldn’t be THIS easy, right? I tried on several others, and kept coming back to the first one. I took several pictures and sent them to select family and friends, and they said they also loved the dress. We still had a year and seven months to go before our actual wedding – so it was torture not to be able to wear my gorgeous gown for so long!

Anjelica’s favorite moment on her wedding day:

My favorite memory is having everyone we loved gathered – while I walked down the aisle to my forever. Joe: Seeing Anjelica walk down the aisle. The cocktail hour on the beach after the ceremony. The great reception we had, where everyone had so much fun!

A lilttle bit about Aljelica and Joe’s Vendors:

One of the first calls I made after getting engaged was to our extremely talented (and good friend) Sara Kauss. I knew there was no way we could get married without her there to capture our big day. While extremely talented, Sara is a pure joy to be around, immediately putting myself and my husband at ease in front of the camera (which isn’t easy). She’s warm, funny and calm. I never worried about whether or not a “moment” was getting captured. Sara took care of everything and we couldn’t be more delighted once we received our wedding pictures.

I had my reservations about planning a wedding destination and making sure it turned out to be something special for us. Luckily for me, Luciana Usandizaga is the wedding coordinator at the resort we got married. She always responded promptly to all my questions and was a delight to work with. On our wedding day, everything turned out perfect – because she ensured every detail was taken care of. I couldn’t have done it without her, and she remains a good friend.

April’s New York Bridal Week brought beautiful designs from some of our favorite designers, so when we stumbled upon these images from Bridal Guide of Alyne Bridal’s latest creations, we couldn’t help but repost! Here are some of the gorgeous gowns that stood out among the rest.

We love these updated, more modern takes on the classic ball gown silhouette.

Obsessed with the lace overlay and cap sleeves on this gorgeous gown.

The modern lines on these gowns and that sexy center slit on the halter gown are so gorgeous!

Love the flowing chiffon and scoop back of this beauty!

We’re loving the layered organza on these two gowns – and check out those cap sleeves on the mermaid gown. Love!!

Can’t wait to see which of these gowns ends up in our store! Be sure to check in over the next several months to find out.

New Gowns: Alyne Bridal

March 20th, 2012

by Keely

To celebrate our upcoming trunk show this weekend, we’re featuring two gowns from the latest Alyne collection! Both are recent additions to our selection and are of the same, gorgeous fabrics and quality that ring true with all Alyne gowns. We think you’ll love them!

First up is Felicity. A stunning, silk dupioni gown featuring a ruched bodice, beautiful beaded belt and, of course, an amazing one-shoulder detail. A gentle, sweeping train completes the look.

Pair with a birdcage veil and a set of sparkling bangles and you’ll be a simply stunning, modern bride!

Next up is the full lace beauty, Catherine – perhaps inspired by the Duchess of Cambridge herself. The gown features a low, scooping back, v-shaped neckline and a delicate sash. Our favorite part about this gown, although not pictures below, is that the underlay can come in a lovely pale pink. You have to see this gown in person!

Paired with a cathedral pencil edge or lace veil, this look is classic and elegant.

If you love Alyne gowns as much as we do, be sure to make your appointment today for our trunk show this weekend! You won’t be disappointed!
